  • Newsletter 22 Feb

    Fri 22 Feb 2019 Mr A

    Dear Parents,

Another busy half term comes to an end- where does the time go? At least the weather looks good for half term- far from the ‘beast from the east’ that arrived this time last year.

I have set out some information, that I hope you will find useful.

    Inset Days

April 12th will be our next inset day. It is the Friday before Easter and so the last day for pupils will be Thursday April 11th. All staff will be having safeguarding training using the My Concern Software to record concerns. We will all be back on Monday 29th April.

Our last inset day will be Monday 22nd of July and so school will close for the summer holiday on Friday 19th of July.

    Parents Meetings

Mid-year parents meetings will be the first week back after half term. If you still need an appointment, please contact the office asap.

    School App & Website

We know that over 200 of you have downloaded the app so far. If you haven’t, please do so as soon as you can. There is an update due and we will then be able to prioritise year groups for specific messages.

Remember to visit the website. We are now posting all the letters we send out under newsletters so if you can check regularly you’ll know if you’ve missed any updates. The children’s blog usually contains some interesting reports and the parents latest news has items we hope you’ll find will tell you about what is going on in school. Calendar dates also give you updates on class items and events.

    Uniform

Please remember uniform must be worn. The children should be in school colours. We will be asking them why they are not in uniform after half term.

Jewellery should not be worn for health and safety reasons. Recently we have seen a significant increase in neck chains, bracelets and rings, please ensure they are not worn after half term as children will be asked to take them off.

    Mobile Phones

Any mobile phones should be handed into the office for safe keeping. If a child is found to have a phone in class the following will take place. The first time it will be taken to the office to be collected by the child at the end of the day. Any further times phones are found in class, it will be confiscated and you will be asked to collect it. There is no need for mobile phones in class.

  • World Book Day 2019

    Fri 22 Feb 2019

Preparations are well under way for World Book Day 2019 (Thursday 7th March).  This year we will be celebrating all things Roald Dahl.  Children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character, but are welcome to wear any fancy dress they have.

Penlan Library are visiting the school, and will be bringing 6 picture books that our Y6 children will read to the Infant classes.

As usual, there will be special assemblies, competitions and of course prizes.  There will be a hot dog tuck shop on the day to raise money for library funds.

Our story trail will now begin the week after World Book Day.  More news after half term...

  • Guess the Score

Mon 04 Feb 2019 Mrs Fellowes

A big "Thank You" to everyone who took part in our first Guess the Score of the 6 Nations.  We made £72 profit.  Jodie won £50 with the correct score.

The child with the winning guess will get a voucher for our March Bookfair.  But as we had so many people with very close guesses, we're giving every child who returned a form a £5 voucher for the Bookfair.  The vouchers will be given out this week.

Our next Guess the Score will be for the Wales V England match on Saturday 23rd February.  Forms will be sent out in a week or two.

Thank you for your continued support.

At present there are no snow/ice days in the week ahead… Phew!!

I know I keep going on but please download the “theschoolapp” and register as Gwyrosydd school.
